If you listen to podcasts, you might already be familiar with the #trypod campaign taking place this month, in which podcasters are recommending their favorite podcasts to their listeners in an effort to promote the podcasting genre in general. While I am not a podcaster (I sound like a four-year-old when I speak, it wouldn't go over well), podcasts are a big part of my life - I love listening to them on my commute, on road trips, and on walks - so in the spirit of sharing, I thought I'd list a few of my personal favorites, organized by genre:
Beauty Inside Out with Kimberly Snyder - I've mentioned Kimberly Snyder before; she is a passionate wellness activist, vegan, nutritionist, and yoga instructor. Her podcast addresses listener questions and is a great resource for learning more about the practical application of the "Beauty Detox" lifestyle she proposes.
On Air With Ella - Ella is like your cool girlfriend who keeps it real and doesn't put up with your nonsense. Her podcast typically centers around her interviewing an expert in a broad range of fields - personal development, nutrition, exercise, hormone management.
Stuff You Should Know - the very first podcast I ever listened to, which convinced me that podcasts are awesome and not awful. This podcast explains an incredible range of subjects, from tariffs to animal testing to drugs to pretty much anything you can imagine. The hosts, Chuck and Josh, have a delightful banter that adds mirth to even the driest of topics.
Stuff You Missed in History Class - as the title suggests, this podcast focuses on events and historical figures that are often left out of the history books. Tracy and Holly, our hosts, are two of the most conscientious people I have ever listened to and handle delicate historical matters with grace and tact. I would like to be in their book club.
The Chalene Show - I love Chalene Johnson for her energy and her authenticity. She is a leader in the fitness industry who has transitioned into a leader in the personal development industry and she shares a lot of wisdom from her own experiences and the experiences of other personal development leaders whom she interviews.
These are my favorite podcasts that no longer release new episodes - RIP, friends.
This is Your Life with Michael Hyatt - another motivational podcast, listening to Michael Hyatt, who is like listening to your gentle, patient dad encourage you and give you well-considered advice. While this podcast has ended its run, Michael has plans to launch another podcast in 2017.
Stuff Your Mom Never Told You - I was so disappointed when hosts Cristen and Caroline announced that they were retiring their podcast to focus on other endeavors, including activism. This podcast gave me my daily dose of feminist rage or empowerment, depending on the topic, and Cristen and Caroline use the same dopey voices my friends and I use - basically, Cristen and Caroline are my friends.
I'd love to hear from you - if you're a podcast fan, what are a few of your favorites? What am I missing out on?
